Who is a member?
BETA BETA BETA// B.O.G.A.R.T. is NOT yet fully functional. The pages are presented here for reference only.
MEMBERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES COMING SOON!
B.O.G.A.R.T. is assessing the viability of becoming a multi-tiered membership group. Members will be screened and approved before being accepted.
Conceptually, while anybody with web access may view the contents of the B.O.G.A.R.T. website, only approved members who maintain adherence to the rules can place their projects, services, and products for sale on the site.
Why pay a membership fee when I can become a member of no-cost groups with the same interests? I aim to establish espirit de corps among the membership population. I aim to provide our esteemed artisans the recognition they deserve. I offer an evidence-based section so we can be informed about elements of our passion.
Members will be given the opportunity to be a 'guest blogger.' These individuals will submit their ideas to site admin for pre-approval, and their finished blog product will be evaluated for content before publication. Perhaps you have commentary on the state of independent luthiery in your country; or designed a tool or process to advance the world of guitar building. More details forthcoming, but the blog section is not a show and tell for your projects. There will be a section just for that in the discussion forums.
Please contact the site administrator for details.
Membership to B.O.G.A.R.T. is a privilege which may be revoked at any time by the curator. This is a place for a POSITIVE experience. While we have not officially launched B.O.G.A.R.T., a fee structure will emerge soon.
-
There will be NO anonymous 'handles' used.
-
First and last names will be your user name.
-
In instances of duplicity, your city/town will distinguish you from others with the same names.
-
Members who own a business are encouraged to enter the business name with their avatar user name. This, too, will help diminish duplicity.
-
Please see the example below.
Why not use a handle? Why my real name? Anonymity leads to animosity. Quite frankly, by removing the veil of anonymity, we combat the online disinhibition effect. Be yourself here... not an avatar.
The first 100 Supporting Members will be offered membership at no charge for the introductory year.
Tier 1): $50/year - Members at this level are regarded as subject matter experts. They are masters of their craft and have earned the Tier 1 position through a solid reputation and/or endorsement of other members, and have provided documentation submitted and reviewed by the curator that supports such status. These members may enter dialogue and initiate discussion. Full access to enter items for sale and to communicate with those selling gear.
Tier 2): $30/year - Members at this level are recognized in their field of luthiery and/or technical repair. These members may enter dialogue and initiate discussion. Full access to enter items for sale and to communicate with those selling gear.
Tier 3): $15/year - Standard membership. Individuals at this level are those who are breaking into the trade and wish to hone their skills by learning from more experienced artisans. These members may enter dialogue and initiate discussion. Full access to enter items for sale and to communicate with those selling gear.
Supporting Member: $10/year - These individuals or entities contribute to the ideal of B.O.G.A.R.T. as an educational platform. Some come here to learn, some come to engage, some come to relay their experiences for others.
On the navigation pane you will notice the Global Member Map. Go there then click on your geographic location to discover those near you who can help with your gear needs.
Revocation of membership: There will NEVER be a refund of membership fees. NEVER. B.O.G.A.R.T. staff will mitigate reports of unruly behavior through informal mediation.
