The tagline of the BOGART site is "Evidence-based Information Exchange" and implies transfer of an experienced opinion.  Communication will be professional, courteous, and based on fact.  The purpose of this site is to seek the truth and dispel myth, in as much as it is possible.   Of course, opinions are expected to vary.  But solid, evidence-based fact will not vary except in interpretation.  Communicate your opinions courteously and professionally - no matter your status in the BOGART hierarchy.

The BOGART RULES of ENGAGEMENT are listed below.  Your acknowledgment below validates that you have read and agree to these terms.

SECTION I, Structure & Behavior

 

RULE 1:  Ladies and gentlemen: Treat each other with respect.  The Golden Rule applies here.  If you don't know what the Golden Rule is, please look it up.  It's important to note that no one member will be disrespected.  BOGART operates as a virtual pub - comments you make on this forum will be exactly as you would face-to-face.  While the forum is virtual, your user names are not.  Sorry - no pseudonyms here.  My name is James Reilly, and I will register as James Reilly.  If you register as "Dick Head", then I'll likely ask for some validation.  I understand that some people are naturally abrasive, and they're as welcome here as anyone else.  And although I refuse to treat BOGART as a 'safe space', I will have little tolerance for bullying.  Here, we don't hide behind a mask.  Do you wear a mask when you go out in public?  If you require a mask to effectively communicate, then please look elsewhere.

RULE 2:  BOGART has a hierarchical 3-tier member structure.  10% of the member population will fall into the MASTER category via BOGART staff invitation or nomination and vote.  Please be advised that the BOGART member qualifications are outlined further in Section II, Part A. 

RULE 3: To participate in discussion or For Sale forums, you must pay the annual membership fee.  The fee is non-refundable and automatically cycles for re-payment on the anniversary of your first payment receipt via your preferred payment mechanism.

RULE 4:  Disagreement of opinion or fact will NOT resort to demeaning comments.  A warning will be issued to the party responsible for degradation of this rule.  Please see Section II, Part B for warning definitions and resolution.

SECTION II, Part A: Membership Structure & Fees

BOGART offers a 3-tier membership structure that is fee-based.  Why should you pay a fee when you can openly discuss the same topics within a Facebook group or the like?  That's a good question.  Legitimate for sure.  What I aim to present here is an elite group of enthusiasts, hobbyists, and professionals who want to learn and share.  It is designed to identify levels of competency among its membership population.  The primary benefit of membership is access to dialogue participation in discussion forums and For Sale boards.  Non-members may access these benefit xx3xx, but in a read-only state.  Member definitions are offered below, along with membership fee.

1. BOGART MASTER - The Master is someone who offers credible, evidence-based knowledge to the BOGART population.  The Master is professional, a role model, responsive and courteous. They follow the BOGART RULES of ENGAGEMENT and demonstrate courteous and professional communication.  10% of the BOGART fee-paying population will be deemed Master.  To be granted this position, this person MUST be invited by BOGART staff or nominated by another member and voted into position via poll to attain the benefit of status.  The membership is complimentary, as these individuals help BOGART thrive.  The Master may be recommended for dismissal by membership or staff for failure to xx2xx.  The final decision will be determined after a review by staff.   

2. BOGART JOURNEYMAN - The Journeyman is one who assesses their abilities at a level above apprentice.  This person seeks truth in their craft.  They follow the BOGART RULES of ENGAGEMENT and demonstrate courteous and professional communication.  This person may vote in polls.  The membership fee is $50 per calendar year (lump sum for 12 contiguous months), or $5 per month with a one year minimum (total $60 per calendar year).

3. BOGART APPRENTICE - The Apprentice is one who assesses their abilities at the entry level.  This person seeks truth in their craft. They follow the BOGART RULES of ENGAGEMENT and demonstrate courteous and professional communication.  This person may vote in polls.  The membership fee is $50 per calendar year (lump sum for 12 contiguous months), or $5 per month with a one year minimum (total $60 per calendar year).
