The science of it all
Have you ever read comments like these?
-
Maple necks sound snappier than mahogany necks.
-
Nitro breathes.
-
Bone nuts are better sounding than plastic?
-
The 70s produced the crappiest guitars EVER.
-
Old acoustic guitars sound better than new ones?
-
Plywood cabinets sound tighter than pine?
-
And tons more.
-
Have you ever wondered where those opinions originated, and more importantly... are they true? And how many do YOU subscribe to?
The truth of the matter is irrelevant. Whether these hearsays are true or not seems only to affect buying decisions people make when considering a new guitar or gear acquisition for the resale (because nobody keeps a guitar forever... right?). People make buying decisions based on these popular beliefs because they know that they're selling points should they ever decide to sell said guitar/gear.
Subjectivity aside, I would like to prove or disprove several of the myths floating in our world of guitars, amps, pedals, and gear.
